1. Preheat oven to 425ºF.
2. In large bowl, WHISK together corn meal, flour, sugar, baking powder and salt.
3. Add milk, egg and oil in one bowl and mix together.
4. Add wet mix to dry and mix until fairly smooth, about 1 minute.
5. Bake in greased or sprayed 8-inch square baking pan, or a 9-inch round baking pan 20 – 23 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
